Rules for the 1st competition of Tortilla of Navarre

 

1. Any group, bar, restaurant or person can participate in the competition, and each can bring 2 tortillas.

2. The closing date to register for the competition ends the 15th of November of 2017, at 24:00. Send an email here to register: info@kukubat.eus

3. The competition will take place in Zentral in Iruña/Pamplona, the 17th of December. The tortillas will be presented from 12:00 to 12:30.

​

4. The tortillas need to be brought already done. For the ones unable to cook in Iruña/Pamplona some kitchens will be offered. The ones that need these kitchens will have to let it know in the registration email. The permissions will be given in the order the registrations were made.

 

5. The basic ingredients of the tortilla are the potatoes, eggs and bread crumbs. In addition some other ingredients can also be added. The basic ingredients were chosen as a tribute to the first known document mentioning the recipe, that is "Memorial de Ratonera" from 1817:

“… two or three eggs in an omelet for five or six, because our wives know how to cook it big and thick with few eggs, mixing potatoes, bread crumbs or other things.”

​

6. The jury will decide the winner the same day at 13:30, and the decision will be unappealable.

 

7. The winners will recieve these prizes:

                1. Prize: 300 €

                2. Prize: 200 €

                3. Prize: 100 €

​

Appart from the money each winner will also recieve a basket with food and drinks.

​

8. Half of the tortilla will be given to the organisation for the jury and the tasting.

​

9. Taking part in the competition implies the assumption of the rules.
